Ivy Alisha Tamwood is living vampire and a third of the Vampiric Charms runner agency. She is 5'10" with Asian features, she has long, black, straight hair and brown eyes with typical living vampire canine teeth. She was born in January 1979, and is bisexual, interested in both male and female romantic relationships. She has a four year degree from the University of Cincinnati in Criminology and graduated at the top of her class.

History[]

In the Main Series[]

Ivy is part of Piscary's living vampire bloodline, formerly his scion, and was subjected to his abuse from an early age. Eventually she moved in to the living quarters of Pizza Piscary's with Kisten Felps, where the two struck up an intimate relationship. After Ivy framed her boss Art at the I.S. for murder to avoid sleeping with him, she was partnered with Rachel as a punishment. Ivy developed a keen interest in Rachel and started to fall for her. When Rachel reveals her desire to quit the I.S., Ivy agrees to give her the protection of the Tamwood family name and help her avoid the I.S. assasination attempts in exchange for a wish, however it becomes clear later that this was only a surface motivation, and in actuality she was hoping to develop a romantic relationship with Rachel.

Ivy is quite wealthy even though buying her way out of her I.S. contract (unlike Rachel, who simply cut and ran) was extremely expensive. As a result she often pays the bills when Rachel cannot come up with money, and honestly doesn't mind. She is neat and orderly, and cares deeply for Rachel. Rachel has made it clear that she is straight and only wants a platonic relationship with Ivy, though Rachel has allowed Ivy to bite her on two occasions. Ivy has gone back and forth on abstaining from blood, as she is ashamed of her vampiric tendencies and wishes she could live without the blood. In her living arrangement with Rachel she initially appears to be the dominant personality, but it is revealed later that Rachel is in fact dominant, as if Ivy was she would have most likely lost control and bound Rachel (taken her as a vampiric shadow - someone who must do the will of the vampire) at some point. Dominance is vital when living with a vampire, as their instincts play a large part in their actions and they can sometimes act without thinking based on signals that others may not have meant as anything other than an innocent gesture. To prevent misunderstandings and Rachel accidently triggering her bloodlust, Ivy gave her a copy of Rynn Cormel's vampire dating guide, with instructions to do the opposite of anything listed in the book as "attractive" to a vampire.

White Witch, Black Curse[]

In this story Ivy is still searching for Kisten's killer, having spent 3 months investigating it in a methodical and straightforward way that yielded little to no progress. After Glenn is attacked and hospitalized, they begin also searching for the Banshee Mia, whom Ivy had given her wish from Rachel to. She helps Rachel escape the hospital after Mia attacks Rachel. While doing a favor to assist Rachel's leaving the hospital against medical advice, Ivy's new master, Rynn Cormel, pressures the two to formalize their bond. Both Ivy and Rachel refuse to do so, saying they are content with how things are.

Ivy secures an interview with Skimmer, who is in jail for killing Piscary, under the condition that Rachel is also attending. Before the interview can start, Skimmer tries to kill Rachel. Ivy intervenes, defending Rachel before beginning to lose control. It is revealed that Ivy has not been practicing vampirism and begins to lose control to the hunger, almost feeding on Skimmer again. Rachel intervenes, and allows Ivy to regain control. The two leave the jail, with Ivy saying that she is going to completely swear off blood. Rachel is against this, as its not who Ivy is. The conversation escalates, before getting disrupted by Mia trying to find out who Rachel talked to for lunch earlier that day. During the scuffle, Ivy is captured by Mia's husband, Remus, and used as leverage. It is then revealed that as part of the wish that Ivy gave Mia, Mia has now learned how to give people aura, instead of just taking it. This allows her to make her victims fall in love with her. Ivy is appalled by this. After refusing to help Mia, Rachel begins to have her aura drained, which would kill her. Tom then intervenes, crashing his Chevy into the van, allowing Ivy to get free and tackle Mia. Mia then begins to drain Ivy's aura before the police arrive. Ivy is barely still alive, and admits that she needs blood, but makes Rachel promise that it would never be her blood. With Ivy desperately trying to maintain control, Rachel gets Ivy to Rynn Cormel so that she can feed. Rachel promises Rynn that she will find a way for Ivy to maintain her soul after death, Ivy's greatest fear being to lose it and forget why she loves people. Rynn takes Ivy so that she can feed on his people and restore her aura. Later that night, Rynn returns Ivy, unconcious, stating that she is "a masterpiece." Jenks notes that Ivy's aura is now unusually thick, implying that she fed well. When Ivy wakes up the next day, she says she feels really good, but she hates herself for having to take blood, but was glad that it wasn't Rachel's. Rachel asks Ivy, hypothetically, if she would be fine with being human but Ivy states its not being a vampire that she hates about herself, its the monster that Piscary made her become.

As Ivy is getting dressed, she comments that Glenn's car is at the end of the street, suprising Jenks about the range of her hearing. Ivy states that she could hear that distance today, implying it was an effect of the blood taking from the night earlier. Ivy later leaves with Glenn to talk with Edden about the Banshee.

Ivy attends the party at Carew Tower with Rachel, Ivy teasing Rachel that everyone is staring at Rachel due to her recent shunning before she heads down to the New Year's celebration. When they are disrupted, she insists that it was Mia who started the fire. Afterwards, she stays behind to help investigate the scene.

After Mia is finally subdued, Rachel tells Ivy that she has remembered Kisten's final moments, telling Ivy that Kisten sacrificed himself because even after being turned undead, he still loved the both of them. Based on what Rachel tells her, Ivy pieces together that it was Art who killed Kisten, revenge for her having framed him in "Undead in the Garden of Good and Evil". As they are searching for Art, Ivy confesses that being assigned to Rachel when they were both runners in the I.S. was the best thing that ever happened to her. Ivy pieces together that, due to her three month search, the abandoned tunnels that Mia was using is the only place left for Art to be hiding.

When they find a likely oubliette, the door is charmed, forcing Rachel to tap a line with her frayed aura. Suffering from it, Ivy grabs onto her, unconsciously causing Ivy's aura to wrap around Rachel, protecting her. When they get inside, they learn that Denon was secretly Art's Scion, and that Kisten's final act of biting Art had proved lethal for the vampire. Ivy falls into sorrow that her actions against Art is what caused him to target Kisten, but Rachel tries to pull her out of it. Ivy explains that even if that weren't the case, Kisten's life was given to Art by Piscary as punishment for Ivy having played a part in Piscary being sent to jail.

When Rachel tapped a line to completely seal the Oubliette, Ivy again wrapped her aura around Rachel, protecting her from the ley line. Afterwards, Ivy reveals that she felt the power of the line through Rachel.

The next week, Ivy leaves to tell Rynn Cormell about the sealing of the Oubliette, Denon's role as Art's Ghoul, and Art's death. The two have a pyre for Kisten, who is finally at rest.
